Fat burning tools!

It doesn't matter what you do to keep yourself healthy the most important thing is to keep an eye on your vitals. I mean accurately and regularly documenting your weight. This can be done with just a simple weighing scale and a diary or you can buy one of the many cloud connected electronic weighing scales that give you a whole raft of information and log all your stats too, simple!

Weighing Scales
Body+
Nokia body+

I use a Nokia scale which comes with a handy app and sync all my data in one place. Weight, body fat %, mass and more, all in one place.

The next thing you can do is find a tape measure to measure your waist. This is important because its the simplest way to measure your visceral fat around the waist (love handles). This is the stuff that ends up killing you one way or another, diabetes, heart disease etc etc. You can add these measurments to the many apps available.

Another similar machine but a lot cheaper is the mii smart scale.

Health logging app
One such app is www.myfitnesspal.com which is great for logging your food intake and keeping an eye on your macros. What are macros  well this is a break down of all your key nutrients consumed during the day.  Which macros to look out for depends on what kind of a  diet you are on. In my particular case my diet restricts carbohydrate intake to encourage the breaking down of body fat. So it helps to log what you eat to so you know if you are over eating.

Fitness tracker

You can use your smartphone or you can buy a dedicated wrist watch. I have a Garmin Forerunner 230 with a separate heart rate monitor (built in ones don't work on my hairy arms!)

Smart Phone

Everyone has got one so there is no excuse but most higher end Samsung Galaxy phones have a heart rate monitor and tracker if you don't already have one of these. The Samsung health app only available on android is also very good for syncing all your other health devices. A record of your resting heart rate is a another good stat to keep record on. As your fitness improves your heart works less hard to keep you alive as it has less tissue to pump the blood through.
